CONSERVATION. PRESERVATION. CONSULTATION.
Over 20 Years of Conservation and Preservation Experience
Conservation Assessments
We offer assessments for museums or private collectors who are looking to document the current condition of an object within their collection.
Conservation Treatments
We begin with an assessment of the object to gather a baseline understanding of overall condition and preservation concerns.
Continuing Preservation
All objects need continuing preservation work, whether that be careful monitoring over time, yearly maintenance and many other needs
Museum
Consulting
With a strong background in museum curation, our team also offers curatorial consulting amongst many other curatorial aspects.
About Us
We look at objects differently!
We understand and appreciate their stories, their lives, their history. We accept that not every historic vehicle, every antique machine, every family heirloom is still in perfect condition; rather it has bumps, bruises, dings, and dents.
The artifact has had a life, an existence before most of us were around. Those bumps and bruises, dings and dents tell the story of the object. We appreciate the authenticity of the artifact. We believe in finding the best treatment for your objects which respects their story and preserves their history.
Experience You Can Trust
We believe our industrial history and heritage is worth saving through conservation/preservation treatments whenever possible, or historically accurate, research guided restorations when necessary.
Preservation of our industrial heritage allows for the scholarly research of its original materials and methods to document and educate, while accurate research guided restorations allow our industrial history to be authentically told for generations to come.
Our Expertise
The D. Moore Preservation team’s industry experience and background expertise have provided a diverse range of industrial conservation and preservation-related projects.
At the Shaker Historical Society, I had the great pleasure of working with Derek to create a restoration plan for Shaker Heights' first fire truck, an American LaFrance pumper type 75. The truck had been delivered to the museum on the back of a flatbed with random rusty parts. With his guidance and some talented volunteers and firemen, we were able to drive her on Shaker Heights' streets for the first time since about 1947. Derek is knowledgeable, reliable, and just a great guy to know. His passion for cars and history is infectious. Thanks to him I shall never forget to "retard the spark" to start the fire truck.
